9/12/2002 - Jungo Software Technologies, a leading provider of residential gateway software and technologies, announced the availability of Jungo's OpenRG residential gateway software, optimized for the Conexant CX821xx home network processors (HNP), delivering cost-effective, turnkey system solutions, for developers of residential and small office/home office (SOHO) gateways.
Jungo has ported and optimized its Linux-based OpenRG software for the Conexant CX821xx development boards, providing customers with pre-integrated, hardware and software residential gateway platforms, per the agreement between the companies. The platform features a wide range of broadband-based applications and services such as IP sharing, home networking, network security (Stateful Packet Inspection), virtual private networking (VPN), remote management (web and SNMP-based), Universal Plug and Play and remote update capabilities.
"Conexant offers a family of cost-effective network processors that have the processing power to run a business-class firewall, giving OEMs and ODMs the ability to provide high-quality security products at affordable prices," said Nick Burd, director of DSL products for Conexant's Broadband Communications Segment for Conexant. "The compact, high-performance OpenRG software best utilizes the silicon capabilities to provide our customers a competitive edge in developing high-quality broadband applications such as routers, firewalls, switches and broadband gateways."
"Conexant offers a comprehensive line of chipsets for DSL modem and router manufacturers. The combination of Jungo's extensive networking and security software offering with Conexant's HNP is an attractive choice for developers of broadband access devices," Said Ofer Vilenski, Jungo Software Technology's president and CEO.
"Building on the successful support for the industry-leading ARM7TDMI® core, Jungo's OpenRG support of the ARM940TTM core, reinforces both companies' commitment to enable OEMs to quickly and efficiently bring ARM® core-based residential gateway solutions to market," said Denise Kerstein, segment manager, Networking, ARM.
Based on a high-performance ARM940T core, the CX821xx includes a dedicated, high-speed memory bus, USB port, expansion bus, various GPIO's and timers and two 10/100 Ethernet MACs. The Conexant CX821xx DSL-ready HNP adds serial interface to an xDSL datapump. In combining all these features on a single chip, the CX821xx provides a cost-effective solution for residential/SOHO gateways, firewalls and DSL/IP routers.
