9/10/2002 - Agilent Technologies introduced a multi-rate compliance filter module for the 86100B Infiniium digital communications analyzer (DCA). The module allows optical network component and system designers and manufacturers to perform transmitter compliance tests of multiple technologies and line rates with a single module. This eliminates the need to invest in additional test equipment and helps maximize the use of floor space.
The Agilent 86105B 15 GHz Optical and 20 GHz Electrical plug-in module enables users to accurately characterize the transmission performance of components and systems that cross the boundary between telecom, such as SONET/SDH, and datacom/enterprise, such as Ethernet technologies, improving and increasing the range of characterization. Designers and manufacturers of multi-port and multi-rate systems and components can take advantage of the 86105B's wide filter coverage and -12 dBm sensitivity to characterize optical transmission performance of all SONET/SDH, Ethernet, and Fibre Channel technologies, from 155 Mb/s through to 10 Gb/s. In addition, the new Infiniium DCA 86100B firmware now supports mask testing for emerging standards such as optical InfiniBand and electrical XAUI signaling.
"Since enterprise and telecom network bottlenecks are not shrinking and since cost is still an issue, network components need to be engineered with flexibility, performance and cost in mind," said Dave Bass, vice president and general manager of Agilent's Lightwave Division. "The 86105B is one of the most flexible tools of its class on the market, providing customers with the ideal solution to this challenge."
The Agilent 86105B 15 GHz Optical and 20 GHz Electrical plug-in module for the 86100B Inifiniium DCA offers several benefits:
