9/10/2002 - Equator Technologies, a leading provider of high-performance, programmable and power-efficient system-on-a-chip processors for video streaming and image processing applications, and Video Communication Systems AG, an industry leader in digital data transmission for security and safety applications, announced a complete portfolio of next generation digital CCTV solutions on Equator's BSPTM family of high-performance Broadband Signal Processor chips.
"We are particularly pleased to be working with VCS in view of the broad product range VCS supplies to the video surveillance market worldwide and, in particular, their leadership in video over IP technology," commented Dr. Avi Katz, CEO of Equator Technologies. "As the world rapidly changes from analog to digital video surveillance systems, VCS is ideally positioned to offer complete end-to-end solutions based around Equator's BSP-15 technology. This total system approach further illustrates Equator's mission to provide the highest performance video processing engines, platforms and solutions — from pixels to packets."
"The performance and flexibility provided through Equator's BSP-15 engine is of paramount importance to us. Our worldwide customers expect the best video quality at the lowest data rates. In order to cater to the market demand, we need the highest processing power available for full-frame rate MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 solutions," said chief executive officer Dr. Michael Gilge, VCS. "The flexibility of Equator's chip will allow us to always upgrade the technology by providing additional features to our customers, for example in the field of video analysis and biometry."
Based on Equator's BSP-15 chip, VCS will introduce a range of products for video transmission and recording. The first products are an MPEG-4 video server/recorder (DVR) for transmission and recording of four-simultaneous, non-multiplexed cameras over Ethernet, PSTN, ISDN and Wireless LAN and an MPEG-2/4 video server/recorder (DVR) for transmission and recording of eight simultaneous non-multiplexed video channels over Ethernet.
Both products will be showcased at the upcoming 'Security' show in Essen, Germany, from October 8-10, 2002. 'Security' is Europe's largest show for CCTV and security related products.
