9/10/2002 - Computer Access Technology (CATC), a leading provider of advanced verification systems and connectivity products for communications protocols, announced a new development partnership with Lamprey Networks designed to automate portions of the InfiniBand Trade Association's (IBTA) compliance testing process. Both companies will showcase these automated test scripts during the Intel Developer's Forum this week.
In conjunction with the IBTA's Compliance and Interoperability Working Group (CIWG), Lamprey Networks has developed a core set of Test Implementations that will become the foundation for testing product compliance with the InfiniBand specification. Beginning with the November 2002 Plugfest, vendors that pass the interoperability and compliance test suite will be approved for inclusion in the IBTA's Integrators List.
"As an InfiniBand architecture expert company, CATC is uniquely positioned to assist in this important protocol compliance testing initiative," said Tim Carey, VP of Marketing at CATC. "CATC's IBTracer 4X system, a protocol analysis tool, fully automates key portions of the CIWG link layer testing developed by Lamprey Networks."
"Lamprey Networks' tests are a critical part of the IBTA's effort to ensure InfiniBand components comply with industry standards and interoperate with other InfiniBand devices. Our test development process is enhanced by the use of effective analysis tools," said Rupert Dance, InfiniBand Team Manager. "An important new development is the CATC Script Verification Engine that improves test execution by replacing manual data analysis tasks with an automated data validation system."
The CATC Script Verification Engine (SVE) is a documented Application Programming Interface (API) that can be utilized to extract packet level timing and analysis information from traffic files recorded using the IBTracer protocol analyzer. In addition to automating elements of the CIWG link-layer test suite, the CATC API allows InfiniBand developers to leverage the IBTracer to perform very sophisticated traffic analysis using their own custom test and validation scripts.
