Analogic Corporation Receives Additional Orders for Its EXplosive Assessment Computed Tomography (EXACT) Systems

9/6/2002 - Analogic has received additional orders for its EXplosive Assessment Computed Tomography (EXACTTM) Systems from L-3 Communicationsí Security and Detection Systems division. The EXACT is the "heart" of L-3ís eXaminer 3DXTM 6000, a certified Explosive Detection System (EDS) that is being purchased by the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to be installed at major airports across the U.S.

Bernard M. Gordon, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Analogic, said, "L-3 has ordered 245 additional systems for delivery this calendar year, as part of the blanket order we received on April 3. This order brings to 425 the number of complete systems that have been ordered by L-3 for delivery to the TSA this calendar year. L-3 has also ordered parts for 17 additional systems. We expect to ship all 442 EXACT systems by December 31, 2002."

Production of these large, complex systems was transferred from Analogicís Peabody plant to its new CT manufacturing and service facility in Haverhill, Mass., in late July. The new facility is expected to ramp up to a production rate of approximately 120 systems a month in October. To date all EXACT shipments have been made on schedule.
