8/30/2002 - TTChip has signed a license agreement for Mentor Graphics® ModelSim® design tools. TTChip, a Vienna-based subsidiary of TTTech Computertechnik AG, will offer development systems that are tested and simulated with ModelSim. Developers will now be able to use ModelSim in connection with communication controllers designed by TTChip.
TTChip develops chip models for TTP®, the time-triggered protocol for safety-critical applications in the automotive and aerospace industries. TTP is a fault-tolerant data communication network that is also used in by-wire systems.
Since synthesizing and optimizing a VHDL source modifies the original circuit structure, conventional top-down development presents significant problems when designing TTP communication controllers.
"Our work was greatly facilitated by the capabilities of ModelSim," explains Guenter Motzet, TTChip Business Development Manager. "We are now able to meet both timing constraints and modularity requirements at the same time. The result is highest quality in a shorter turnaround time." Furthermore, emphasizes Motzet, "Mentor’s ModelSim provides users of TTChip's state-of-the-art IP cores with comprehensive test coverage and technology independence. This supports the customer's process migration targets."
"Our cooperation with TTChip has always been a successful and rewarding business relationship", says Manfred Zaltron, Mentor Graphics Account Manager for Switzerland. "TTChip makes very effective use of our development tools as it continues to invest in its future success."
Designed by TTChip and produced by austriamicrosystems AG, the AS8202 controller combines TTP with all functions essential for the communication node of fault-tolerant bus systems in a single device. The AS8202 complies with the TTP specifications developed by the TTA-Group (www.ttagroup.org); it is available for commercial application.
