8/29/2002 - For the second consecutive year, the Association of Support Professionals (ASP) has named National Instruments web site, ni.com, one of the year's 10 best Web support sites. The ASP, representing more than 1,000 technical support managers and professionals, praised ni.com for its extensive KnowledgeBase, overall usability and design, search implementation, and interactive features. Judges evaluated Web-based customer support sites and selected ten winners including National Instruments, Cisco Systems, Microsoft Great Plains, and Network Associates.
"National Instruments' focus on the customer is apparent," said Jeffrey Tarter, a leading Internet commerce analyst and executive director of the ASP. "In addition to the quality of the technical content on ni.com, NI concentrates on ensuring that customers at every level, from beginner to advanced, can easily find the information they need."
National Instruments' Web site serves as a worldwide portal for scientists and engineers seeking application development help and technical support. Visitors to ni.com/support find a wide range of information available in English, Spanish, German, and Japanese; more than 8,000 KnowledgeBase documents that cover common programming or installation questions; 2,400 example programs; and 1,400 tutorials. Frequently, the breadth and depth of content on ni.com routes customers to a solution faster than telephone support or email, and many solutions, such as the 15 online product advisors, discussion forums, and board diagnostic tools are available only on the Web.
"From our global community of contributors to online product advisors for customers in the initial buying stages, ni.com is the ultimate resource for our customers," said John Pasquarette, NI director of Web marketing. "In fact, today the site has become one of the top five visited sites by design engineers in North America and Europe."
The ASP Ten Best Web Support Sites competition evaluates the customer support Web sites of software and other technology vendors. A panel of industry experts assesses each site according to a scoring system based on 25 separate performance criteria. The ASP will publish a book-length report in September that will profile this year's ten winning sites.
