8/21/2002 - Jungo Software Technologies, a leading provider of residential gateway software and technologies, is participating in CableLabs® CableHomeTM initiative to help define the CableHomeTM specifications, and is participating in a royalty-free intellectual property rights (IPR) pool. Jungo network security architect will chair the CableHome 2.0 security Focus Group.
CableHome 1.0 introduces the specification that permits cable operators to provide consumers with a secure, high-quality home networking system that is easy to install, use and maintain. The specification is designed for the residential gateway device called the Home Access (HA) device, which acts as the single entry point into the home. CableHome 2.0 enhances CableHome 1.0, adding AudioVisual application support, advanced security features, and extended LAN capabilities.
Jungo's OpenRG provides the software technologies required for building a CableHomeTM compliant device. OpenRG enables secure and managed services from the cable operator's network to the home network through a variety of cable modems/IADs and RG solutions. Through compliance with the CableHomeTM specifications, vendors will be able to create products that are interoperable, and in turn, reduce costs, time to market and system complexity.
"By Joining CableLabs® CableHomeTM intellectual property rights (IPR) pool, Jungo ensures continued leadership in the delivery of high quality, standards based software enabling manufacturers to develop advanced home gateways at a competitive price point," said Udi Yuhjtman, Vice President Operations & Business Development at Jungo. "Cooperating with CableLabs will provide Jungo with the know-how to better support our customers through the CableHomeTM certification process."
