Texas Instruments Continues DOCSIS Certification Success

8/14/2002 - Texas Instruments continues to demonstrate its technology expertise in data over cable service interface specification (DOCSISTM) solutions with the certification of Toshiba Corporation´s PCX2500 cable modem by the Euro-DOCSISTM Certification Board based on the tests performed by tComLabs, the Euro-DOCSIS Certification Lab. Thanks to the long-term relationship with Toshiba in regard to cable modem development and testing, TI is now the first and only technology supplier able to provide manufacturers with a cable modem solution that is proven worthy of Euro-DOCSIS 1.1 certification.

"Toshiba has achieved a first certified status many times and has been one of the most trusted and experienced cable modem suppliers with its advanced integration technology. Being the first to deliver a Euro-DOCSIS 1.1 certified cable modem once again shows Toshiba and TI to be a powerful team in cable modem technology," said Kunihiro Nagura, vice president, Computer & Network Platform Division, e-Solutions Company of Toshiba. "The European market is very important and Toshiba is very pleased to be serving it as the first and only supplier of a Euro-DOCSIS 1.1 certified cable modem."

TI´s experience and robust testing methodologies continue to provide TI´s customers with the quickest time-to-certification for new designs. Last September, Toshiba´s PCX2500 cable modem and TI´s TNETC405 cable modem, both based on TI´s technology, were the first to earn CableLabs® DOCSIS 1.1 certification status in the United States.

"We are pleased that Toshiba and TI, together, have achieved another first with Euro-DOCSIS 1.1 certification," said Brett Butler, general manager of TI's Broadband Cable Communications. "Our relationship with Toshiba and this certification once again demonstrate the strength of TI's technology in the cable modem industry."

TI's Euro-DOCSIS solutions include highly optimized silicon, hardware, and an open software architecture, which allows customers to customize and personalize their modems by adding value-added features. The high rate of success of TI's customers in Euro-DOCSIS and DOCSIS certification is a clear demonstration of TI's focus to deliver production-quality system solutions.
