Northrop Grumman Selects Spectrum Signal Processing flexComm for Use in Air Surveillance Radar Systems

8/14/2002 - Spectrum Signal Processing, a leading provider of high performance solutions for wireless signal and Voice over Packet processing, announced that flexComm signal processing technology is being shipped to Northrop Grumman for use in its successful TPS-78 family of tactical ground-based air-surveillance radar systems. A total of $1.1 million of product shipped last quarter, with another $1.3 million scheduled for this quarter.

The TPS-78 radar system is a ground-based tactical air surveillance system that is designed for air defense, air sovereignty, counter-narcotics surveillance & control, or joint-use airspace management. The addition of a highly reliable, modular solid-state transmitter is the latest evolution of the TPS-78 product line, which provides significant improvements in reliability/maintainability and increased sensitivity on small cross section targets. The TPS-78 solid-state family of radars includes both long-range and short-range tactical, three-dimensional air surveillance systems. The US Air Force and armed forces in over 25 countries worldwide use TPS-78 radar systems.
