8/13/2002 - AudioCodes reached a milestone in its interoperability testing program, leading to a co-marketing relationship with Ericsson. AudioCodes and Ericsson have successfully completed interoperability testing between the AudioCodes' Mediant Cable Access Gateway and the Ericsson AXE Switch. Ericsson will now offer AudioCodes' Mediant 2000 Cable Access Gateways to its customers as part of a cable telephony solution that connects Packet Telephony Voice Networks with the public switched telephony network (PSTN). The new IP-based system will enable multiple system operators (MSOs) and other service providers to increase revenues by delivering voice services over IP with their existing cable services.
AudioCodes has pursued multiple Packet Cable Telephony interoperability opportunities with the V5.2 Internet Protocol Access Terminal (IPAT) solution in the EMEA regions including interoperability with major Class 5 circuit switch, CMTS and E-MTA vendors. Ericsson has extensively tested AudioCodes' Mediant 2000 V5.2 IPAT, a low-cost gateway that is part of a family of scalable and high-availability V5.2 and Media Gateway solutions.
AudioCodes' solutions provide Network Equipment Providers (NEPs) and Network Integrators (NIs) with a straightforward and successful interoperability experience, reducing the resource investment and costs and making it easier for NEPs/NIs to quickly integrate the systems and progress with customer opportunities for adopting voice services.
"Our successful interoperability test with Ericsson demonstrates the technologies and expertise that will allow MSOs to deploy voice services over IP today and realize the revenue advantages of bundling voice services with existing cable service offerings," said Walter Shalev, Vice President Sales - Cable Access Systems at AudioCodes Ltd. "This relationship will allow AudioCodes to leverage its position as the emerging leader in V5.2 IPAT systems and to expand cable telephony trials already underway by initiating large scale deployments."
AudioCodes' open platforms offer NEPs the option to differentiate and run their value-added applications within the Mediant chassis. This investment is also protected since the carrier-grade and packet cable telephony based Mediant Cable Access Gateways can be deployed in and migrate from V5.2 to softswitch controlled voice network solutions. AudioCodes' Mediant Cable Access Gateway Family helps improve the ability of MSOs to address the installed base of cable subscribers and enable them to offer voice services together with a host of profitable value-added data and video services.
The Mediant 2000 Cable Access Gateway solution is available for immediate worldwide delivery.
