8/12/2002 - Centurion Wireless Technologies launched the 450 MHz MicrosphereTM for in-building Land Mobile Radio (LMR) usage. The new antenna is designed to enhance professional two-way communications inside buildings and public venues where steel and concrete infrastructures, and crowded radio frequency environments can interfere with public safety and emergency communications.
"With our new antenna, firefighters, police officers, and industrial professionals will be able to rely on mission critical two-way communications regardless of the environment within a building", said Dax Craig, Vice President of Business Development for Centurion Wireless Technologies. "The antenna also gives building owners and facility managers an easy and cost effective solution that adds new levels of security to their properties and tenants."
Its innovative design makes the 450 MHz Microsphere the first, flat omnidirectional antenna designed for in-building use of LMR and professional two-way radios. About the size of a compact disk case (8-inches long, 5-inches wide and .07 inches deep), the antenna can be mounted directly on any ceiling. Its extremely small form factor ensures that once installed, it is practically invisible and secure from vandalism and harsh environmental factors while not detracing from the building aesthetics.
The 450 MHz Microsphere offers coverage in typical public safety frequency bands ranging from 417 to 483 MHz and provides outstanding performance with a 3 dBi gain and a VSWR of 2:1. The 450 MHz Microsphere is now available from Centurion direct or through the company's authorized distributors.
