Synergy Microsystems Introduced Faster Four-Processor DSP Board

8/8/2002 - Synergy Microsystems, a veteran innovator of advanced VME and CompactPCI computing technologies, released a faster version of its four-processor DSP board, featuring PowerPC 7410 CPUs. Powered by this more advanced G4 technology, this new VSS4 board achieves processing speeds of up to 533 MHz. The cooler running 7410s also drive the new VSS4 with 30% less power consumption.

The new board optimizes performance using Synergy's special DSP Math Library. Specifically designed to integrate with PowerPC-AltiVec processing, the library brings hundreds of essential hand-coded functions to this advanced VSS4 platform. The VSS4 supports VxWorks® and Linux™ with Symmetric Multiprocessing. The VSS4 is available with up to 512 MB SDRAM and up to 64 MB Flash. It features 2MB L2 cache per CPU and a variety of I/O options including Ethernet, Wide Ultra SCSI, four serial ports, and a PMC site. The VSS4 is offered in 466, 500, and 533 MHz processor speeds. Pricing for 466 MHz versions starts at $19,370.
