8/7/2002 - RF Micro Devices, a leading provider of proprietary radio frequency integrated circuits (RFICs) for wireless communications applications, opened a new sales and customer support office located at The Imperial Tower in Tokyo, Japan.
RF Micro Devices' Japan sales and customer support team, which will be located in the new office was first established in January 2001.
Jeff Nemeth, Asia-Pacific sales manager for RF Micro Devices, said, "Since opening our Japan sales office in January 2001, we have seen significant, increased interest and acceptance of our products in Japan. This new office enables RFMD to serve existing customers, including Sanyo, Panasonic, NEC, Hitachi, Clarion, Alps, Sony, Toshiba and Sharp, and strengthens our efforts to support the Asia-Pacific region."
Bob Bruggeworth, president of RF Micro Devices, said, "We plan to leverage our recent success in the Asia-Pacific region and anticipate this region will present growth opportunities for RF Micro Devices not only in handsets, but also in wireless LAN, satellite radio, Bluetooth(TM) wireless technology and GPS."
In addition to this new Japan office, RFMD serves its customers with a worldwide sales force and eight design centers, which are strategically located throughout the world to provide customers direct, local application support.
