8/7/2002 - Valio Oy and Fujitsu Invia Oyj have signed an agreement on the implementation of a SAP system related to the management of the delivery chain. The project, entitled Valo, comprises the renewal of Valio’s operative systems into one integrated information system.
The definition of the Valo project was started already last autumn and the new system will be introduced, phase by phase, by the end of 2004. The entity comprises, among others, sales, storage, distribution and invoicing data systems and the expansion of the use of the current system related to production. It is possible that systems related to export will be included in the project. Valio has earlier chosen an SAP solution as the delivery chain management system.
In conjunction with this agreement, also the delivery agreement on the continuous data system and basic IT services signed for the period from 2003 to 2005. The agreement is a continuation to the cooperation commenced in 1995. The service model of the type Provia includes the workstation services for approximately 2,000 workstations as well as user and management services for 250 servers. The agreement also covers the local network management services as well as user support for more than 4,000 users. The data system service covers the support and development services of approximately forty data systems.
The aggregate value of deliveries and services during the agreement period amounts to approximately EUR 30 million.
"Seven years of co-operation have provided Invia with good knowledge of Valio's operations and its IT environment. Therefore, a continuation agreement was for us the most secure and clearly the best alternative, although the process included the regular competitive bidding. What decided the competition for Invia was its progressive approach to contemporary partnership and commitment to an effective operating model," says Valio's Information Management Manager Pekka Tanner.
