Accelent Systems Supports the Update to Windows CE .NET

8/5/2002 - Accelent Systems, a leading enabler of embedded devices and Gold-level member of the Microsoft Windows Embedded Partner Program, will fully support the latest update to the Microsoft Windows CE .NET operating system, version 4.1 (formerly code-named "Jameson"). By providing support for this update, Accelent builds upon its expertise in Microsoft technologies to provide its customers with the leading software and services to enable their consumer and embedded designs.

Microsoft delivered the update to Windows CE .NET to address customer demand to have specific functionality made available prior to the next major release of the Windows CE operating system.

The key new features delivered in Windows CE .NET include:

  • Support for IPv6 - Allows OEMs to support this next-generation Internet Protocol in their Windows Powered, Web-enabled devices
  • File Viewers - Allows users to view various document types including Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and images including .jpg, .gif and .bmp files
  • Updated .NET Compact Framework beta - Allows developers to continue preparing to roll out .NET Web services and applications to smart, connected Windows Powered devices

Accelent Systems’ complete line of product and service offerings will support the new features and functionality found in Windows CE .NET. These include:

  • Device driver, bootloader and OAL support in the form of Source Code Upgrades for the PXA250-based IDP platform and the Schema Development Suite
  • Support on the IDP – Integrated Development Platform based on the Intel PXA250 applications processor
  • Product development support (software & hardware) through Engineering Services
  • Corresponding changes in our Windows CE .NET Training Programs
