Trimble Introduces Rugged Pipe Lasers for Construction

8/5/2002 - Trimble introduced the new Spectra Precision Laser DG711 and DG511 pipe lasers, featuring a rugged design and a variety of unique technological capabilities. The pipe lasers withstand corrosion from acids, chemicals, salts and other destructive underground elements as well as the physical abuse typical in the construction industry.

Built tough for long lasting performance and reliability, the DG711 and DG511 pipe lasers from Trimble are completely waterproof and designed to ensure easy cleanup. They are also easy to setup with a full range of mounting accessories available, and easy to use with straightforward, "no-instructions-required" controls. In addition, through the Service Alert feature, they keep track of their own maintenance needs, indicating at pre-set intervals when it's time for a check up.

Additional product features include:

  • Self-Leveling
The DG711 and DG511 pipe lasers feature the widest automatic self-leveling range in the industry, resulting in quick, easy setups regardless of grade. Unlike traditional pipe lasers, they eliminate the need for rough leveling and minimize the amount of crew training required. Simply install the laser in the pipe, manhole or open trench; there is no need to swivel or rough level the unit.
  • Line Alert
This unique feature is ideal for working in high-vibration or wet conditions where the pipe lasers may be disturbed. The beam flashes to indicate that the setup line has been disturbed, eliminating the necessity of rework. Combined with the self-leveling warning, this feature allows for the completion of jobs correctly, on time and on budget.
  • Line Set
The Line Set/Check capability of the pipe laser allows operators to raise the beam outside of the trench for fast line setup or checking. Raising the laser beam out of the trench to an aboveground stake eliminates the need to move the excavator off-line during setup of the pipe laser. In addition, the Line Set check feature is ideal for rechecking the line in pipe jacking puts after each push.

"As the original manufacturer of electronically leveled construction lasers, Trimble is dedicated to providing our customers with tools that not only make their jobs safer and easier, but also are rugged enough to withstand the rough conditions of the typical job site," said Pat Bohle, division vice president of sales and marketing for Trimble's Construction Instruments Division. "Our new DG711 and DG511 pipe lasers meet both of these requirements, improving productivity as well as enduring destructive elements and harsh abuse."

The Spectra Precision Laser DG711 and DG511 pipe lasers are available immediately through Trimble's Construction Instruments Division dealer network.
