Canadian Tire to Benefit from Fujitsuís High-performance, Multi-vendor POS Support

8/2/2002 - Fujitsu Transaction Solutions Canada Inc. signed a two-year contract with the Canadian Tire Dealers Association to provide on-site point of sale technology services and maintenance. Canadian Tire is the countryís most-shopped retailer. Its Associate Dealers, which independently own and operate 451 stores across Canada, have approximately 5,000 lanes. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Effective August 1, Fujitsu will provide complete, third-party technical support for Canadian Tire Associate Stores for maintenance of their front-end point-of-sale (POS) systems, terminal installation and certification services. Fujitsu also will manage support for the storesí NCR hand scanners with its Customer Assist Parts (CAP) program.

"POS terminals represent a final step of a customerís retail experience. By consistently providing high-quality services and support, Fujitsu will play an important role in Canadian Tireís continued commitment to delivering for our customers," said George Vallance, who chairs the technology portfolio for Canadian Tire Associate Dealers.

Fujitsu offers infrastructure management services across North America for the retail and financial services markets.
