Venturcom BXP Remote Centralized Client Management Software Available for Download

8/1/2002 - Venturcom released BXP Version 2.0, the latest version of remote centralized client management software for Microsoft Windows XP and 2000. Proving to be an important application for the security and storage environments, BXP enables a relationship between server and client, allowing client systems to boot without the need for local persistent storage.

BXP-based client management systems provide a safeguard for intellectual property, and facilitate the automation of image management. Disk images are centrally stored and may be configured to run where many similarly equipped machines are booted from either the same, or unique protected images.

Along with improved installation and documentation, enhancements to BXP 2.0 include:

  • New client side drivers using the SCSI Miniport model allows BXP to integrate seamlessly with the Windows 'Storage Driver' architecture and allows many standard disks to operate transparently to the user
  • Windows 2000 and XP support for both BXP Client and BXP Server
  • BXP Client XPE support
  • Client BXP license support to control the number of bootable BXP clients and to track BXP server installations
  • Improved write cache with server side file caching in addition to RAM cache
  • Improved virtual drive mapping with Administrator integration and remote drive mapping
  • S1/S3 Standby Power Management support on some client systems
  • Support for up to an 8 Gigabyte Virtual Drive Image
  • IGMP support for multicast through smart switches

BXP Version 2.0 is available for download from www.vci.com as a 30-day evaluation and is immediately available for purchase. Call Venturcom at 800.334.8649 to learn about BXP Starter Kits.
