IONA's Dream Warrior Challenge Attracts Web Services Developers

8/1/2002 - IONA®'s Dream Warrior Challenge Web services educational contest has attracted more than 20,000 developers and registered 7,000 developers in 90-days - making the IONA Dream Warrior Challenge the largest community of Web Services developers in the world.

The IONA Dream Warrior Challenge portal ( is the ideal online destination for developers who want to educate themselves on Web services, get their hands on free IONA developer tools and tutorials, and start building, consuming, and exposing Web services while earning points towards cash and vacation prizes.

During the Dream Warrior Challenge, developers complete a set of tasks using IONA's Orbix E2A - XMLBus EditionTM to earn points and chances to win prizes culminating in a grand prize drawing. During April, May and June, six prizes were awarded, leaving 11 to be claimed, including a golf vacation, spa weekends and a trip to the most romantic cities in the world. The Dream Warrior Challenge development was commissioned to DevX, Inc. by IONA and was introduced in April at JavaOneTM 2002. The challenge is hosted by DevX on its network of IT development websites.
