7/31/2002 - Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today introduced a Voice Quality Tester (VQT) Responder that allows network operators to lower test costs for deploying large VoIP networks, when used in conjunction with VQTs. The VQT Responder can be operated remotely, increasing the productivity of network engineers and reducing the cost of test by simplifying testing and troubleshooting of global voice networks.
The VQT Responders are low-cost devices that extend VoIP service quality testing to hundreds of distributed network sites for large-scale deployment of distributed voice quality assurance and troubleshooting.
"The new VQT Responder's comprehensive test capabilities can be operated remotely, which can increase user productivity, enhance network performance and decrease cost of test for IP telephony service providers and enterprise network operators," said Steve Witt, vice president and general manager of Agilent's Network Systems Test Division.
The VQT is the first product in the industry with comprehensive speech quality (PESQ, PSQM+ and PAMS), delay and echo testing over a VoIP Ethernet interface. This function allows for the VQT to connect directly into the IP network to isolate and troubleshoot problems by segmenting the call path.
