General Software Signs Southern California Technology Center

7/26/2002 - General Software, Inc., the leading supplier of x86 embedded firmware, announces its alliance with DPAC Technologies (NASDAQ: DPAC), of Garden Grove, California. DPAC’s System Design Services (SDS) provides engineering design services to help customers create cost-saving circuit designs. They will function as a General Software Technology Center, providing custom engineering services to the North American embedded x86 market.

"Technology Centers are an important component of the firmware solution we provide to large and small OEMs," explained Matthew J. Schiltz, General Software president and CEO. "DPAC has proven expertise in the software, firmware, and hardware tasks that x86 embedded OEMs face. Our Embedded BIOS™ customers who need customization and implementation assistance will benefit from DPAC’s design experience and manufacturing expertise."

"Our 10 year track record with x86 designs makes the alliance with General Software a natural fit," said Mike Grobler, DPAC’s director of SDS. "By combining our products and services, SDS and General Software provide clients a center for complete product development -- concept through production."

SDS specializes in fast time-to-market by managing all aspects of design and development, including hardware, firmware, software, prototyping, and manufacturing. SDS and General Software’s x86 successes include the portable hand-held computer now in use by the US Postal Service and various network routers for leading networking companies."
