7/24/2002 - M-Systems (Nasdaq: FLSH) today announced earnings for the second quarter of 2002.
For the quarter ended June 30, 2002, revenues were $14.7 million, compared to revenues of $11.4 million in the previous quarter and revenues of $9.4 million in the second quarter of 2001. The Company reported a net loss for the quarter ended June 30, 2002, of $1.4 million, or $(0.05) per share, compared to a net loss of $2.3 million, or $(0.08) per share, in the previous quarter. This compares to a pro forma net loss of $3.4 million, or $(0.13) per share, for the second quarter of 2001, and compares to a net loss for that quarter, including inventory write-down and capital loss, of $22.3 million, or $(0.83) per share. Gross margins decreased to 31 percent from 33 percent in the previous quarter and were unchanged from the gross margins in the second quarter of 2001, on a pro forma basis.
In commenting on the second quarter, Dov Moran, president of M-Systems, said, "We are pleased that despite the continued difficult economic environment, M-Systems is able to report its fourth consecutive quarter of increased revenues, while continuing to decrease its loss. The growth in revenues occurred in all our product lines and particularly, as mentioned in our earlier announcement, in the DiskOnKey.
