Agilent Technologies announces memory tester to reduce cost of test in high-mix production environments

7/18/2002 - Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE:A) today announced the Agilent Versatest Model V4100, a test system optimized to cost-effectively test a wide range of memory and logic devices. With a flexible architecture that supports multi-site test at up to nine sites, the Model V4100 is ideal for mid-volume, high-mix memory and logic production environments.

Contract manufacturers that produce memory and logic devices are challenged with reducing cost of test for a constantly changing mix of devices. The Model V4100 addresses this challenge with a 576-pin test head that enables users to test a wide range of memory and logic applications, including flash memory, SRAM, embedded memory and pure logic. The test head and test head interface plane can be configured for wafer sort and final test applications, further lending to the system's flexibility.

"The Agilent V4100 tests a diverse mix of memory and logic products at higher throughput rates than most dedicated testers, giving our customers an acute cost-of-test advantage," said Gayn Erickson, marketing manager of Agilent's Memory Test Division. "The system complements the other members of the Agilent Versatest family, filling the niche between low-cost test development and high-performance, ultra-high-throughput memory test."

The Model V4100 adapts the same proven test technology of the Agilent Versatest Model V4400 to provide advanced multi-site test capabilities for these smaller, more varied production environments. The test head supports multi-site test at up to nine sites, increasing throughput and further reducing cost of test for these customers. The system has resources to test up to 36 16-pin devices in parallel, for example NAND flash, as well as for testing a single DUT with up to 512 pins (combined resource mode).

The system's upgradeable performance levels of 40, 70 and 100 MHz are fully compatible with the other members of the Agilent Versatest Series. This compatibility allows test programs developed on the Model V4100 TDS (test development system) to be transferred directly to the Versatest Series' production testers, the Model V4100 and Model V4400, delivering correlation and test repeatability from engineering development to high-volume production.
