Primagraphics Launches Puma PCI-based Dual Video Windows and Acquisition Card

7/17/2002 - Primagraphics, the command & control, video and graphics specialist, has launched Puma PCI, a commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS), single slot, full length, PCI video windows card.

Puma PCI provides a versatile solution for the acquisition and display of a wide range of video inputs from TV to high resolution RGB video. The board will add flexible video windows capability to display consoles and digital graphics systems such as naval command and control consoles, ground based video replay and video distribution systems.

A standard Puma PCI card can display two live video windows, selected from any combination of four independent TV video inputs (PAL, NTSC, CCIR or RS-170 format) and an optional high resolution RGB input. Video windows generated from a TV video source may be zoom enlarged by up to four times or zoom reduced down to one eighth original size. A video window generated from the high resolution RGB input may be zoom enlarged by up to two times or zoom reduced down to one quarter original size.

An optional Puma PCI daughterboard is available to support quad video windows from TV inputs only. Additional video windows may also be obtained by DVI daisychaining multiple Puma PCI cards.

Puma PCI uses a digital colour video keying technique, which accepts the output from a standard PC DVI graphics card, and combines it with either two or four live video windows. Symbology generated by the PC on its graphics card appears on top of the live video windows. The digitised video inputs may also be accessed by the host processor via the PCI bus.

Puma PCI's video output is via an industry standard DVI-I connector, which provides support for either analogue or digital displays, including digital input flat panels. Software support for Puma PCI is provided for a wide range of software environments including Microsoft Windows and Linux.
