7/16/2002 - Altera Corporation (NASDAQ: ALTR) today announced that designers will benefit from reduced system verification times with the new SignalTap® II embedded logic analyzer available exclusively in Altera's Quartus® II version 2.1 development software. A second-generation system level debug tool, Altera's SignalTap II embedded logic analyzer captures and displays real-time signal behavior in system-on-a-programmable-chip (SOPC) designs, enabling developers to observe hardware and software interactions at system-level speeds throughout the design cycle.
"The capability of Altera's SignalTap II embedded logic analyzer to directly capture the operation of our FPGA circuits in system and at system speeds is an essential component of our design verification strategy," said Ariel Marcus a hardware designer and system engineer at Ingentix (http://www.ingentix.com)
Integrated into Altera's recently announced Quartus II version 2.1 design software, the SignalTap II embedded logic analyzer features support for up to 1,024 channels, a sample depth of up to 128K bits, and 10 levels of trigger input/output capabilities for each analyzer for increased sampling accuracy.
"For complex digital systems, pinpointing the source of a problem at system speeds is a significant challenge, " said Peter Woo, director of software and tools marketing. "With SignalTap II embedded logic analyzer, Altera is now providing designers with industry-leading visibility into their SOPC design in real-time, significantly reducing time spent on the verification process."
Additionally, Altera today released a white paper that extensively discusses the SignalTap II logic analyzer and can be accessed at http://www.altera.com/literature/wp/wp_signaltap2.pdf
