Agilent Technologies' new DOCSIS testing services help manufacturers and service operators test, verify designs for cable modems, set-top boxes

7/12/2002 - Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today introduced a testing service to help equipment vendors and users more easily and affordably complete design verification and pre- and post-certification testing of data-over-cable service interface specification (DOCSIS) equipment, such as North American and Euro cable modems, set-top boxes and cable modem termination systems (CMTS).

The testing service helps DOCSIS vendors preparing for certification waves, developers characterizing device designs, and service operators evaluating equipment, troubleshooting interoperability performance issues or troubleshooting repetitive "no trouble found" (NTF) equipment returns.

The DOCSIS testing services use the Agilent E1371 DOCSIS Design Verification (DV) Test Environment in conjunction with Agilent's most up-to-date test strategies and test scripts. The testing focuses on all DOCSIS physical (PHY) layer specifications and selected DOCSIS media access control (MAC) layer specifications, and is DOCSIS 1.0 and 1.1 compliant. Customers receive detailed, readable reports quickly and at an affordable price.

"Our testing services provide customers with exactly the same types of testing and results that established vendors use in their processes," said Peter Johnson, DOCSIS business manager for Agilent's Worldwide Custom Solutions Operation. "We can help customers dramatically reduce the time and costs associated with troubleshooting DOCSIS equipment, and we can also help them identify and resolve design problems before they submit designs through the certification wave, which also will reduce costs."

Key features of the E1371 DOCSIS Test Services include:
