Jazz Semiconductor Standardizes on Mentor Graphics Calibre/xCalibre Physical Verification and Extraction Tools

7/5/2002 - Mentor Graphics Corporation (Nasdaq: MENT) today announced that Jazz Semiconductor, an independent, high-performance, mixed-signal and radio frequency (RF) silicon wafer foundry, has selected the Mentor Graphics® Calibre® and xCalibre® tool suite as the gold standard for physical verification of its integrated circuit (IC) designs.

Jazz will use the tool suite to ensure that IC physical designs conform to Jazz's foundry manufacturing rules, and match the intended functionality of the chip. As part of its design kit for customers, Jazz develops Calibre and xCalibre design rule files for design rule checking (DRC), layout vs. schematic (LVS), and parasitic extraction. This will help to ensure a smooth transition from design to manufacturing, and enable Jazz customers to achieve a competitive advantage through faster time-to-market.

"Our long history and successful track record with Calibre/xCalibre were key factors in our selection process," said Marco Racanelli, executive director of research and development for Jazz Semiconductor. "Calibre and xCalibre's excellent mixed-signal/RF capabilities, including advanced device recognition, extraction accuracy, and tight design environment integration, will provide us with the tools we need to offer a best-in-class production-proven environment for our customers' advanced semiconductor designs."

"Mentor Graphics is pleased that Calibre and xCalibre have been selected as the physical verification gold standard for Jazz Semiconductor, " said Joseph Sawicki, general manager for Mentor Graphics physical verification and analysis division. "By adopting our tool suite, Jazz shows a strong commitment to bringing the best communications IC design technologies to its customers. Calibre and xCalibre provide mixed-signal and RF designers the ability to verify more complex designs faster and at a high rate of accuracy."
