7/5/2002 - Fujitsu Siemens Computers, the leading European vendor of secure Business Critical Computing and Mobility solutions, has been awarded a multi-million pound contract by the Inland Revenue to supply desktop PC systems. This procurement is part of the Inland Revenue’s ongoing desktop refreshment programme and will replace some 30,000 of its existing desktop estate. Fujitsu Siemens Computers has been selected along with another manufacturer as part of a 14 month dual source programme.
Under the contract, Fujitsu Siemens Computers will supply around 15,000 SCENIC S small form factor desktop PCs, designed to provide Inland Revenue users with the optimum combination of performance and ergonomics. The Inland Revenue PCs will benefit from Fujitsu Siemens Computers’ Business Critical Computing expertise with key features such as Intel Pentium 4 performance in a particularly compact housing, pass-through power cables to save on the amount of 13-amp power sockets needed, and short-neck monitors to save further desk space.
“We’re delighted to have been chosen for this major desktop PC procurement project by the Inland Revenue,” commented Dave Cullinane, Managing Director for Fujitsu Siemens Computers in the UK and Ireland. “With SCENIC we have an excellent professional PC range, but as the leading European vendor we’re ideally placed to deliver the manufacturing, supply chain and asset management infrastructure that ensures that the Inland Revenue gets the PCs they need, exactly when they need them.”
Fujitsu Siemens Computers’ SCENIC S small desktop PC is a space saving, quiet and powerful system designed specifically for implementation in major corporate and public sector environments. SCENIC S features the latest Intel processors and chipsets, comprehensive security and manageability, and customer-specific configuration support including BIOS and firmware freezes, making it an ideal platform for long-term PC projects.
