6/12/2002 - Ericsson Microelectronics has introduced the ROK104001, a complete Bluetooth multi-chip module (MCM) that is 70% smaller than its predecessor. The module has been designed to speed time-to-market by enabling designers with the ability to quickly implement qualified and tested alternatives to chipset solutions. The ROK 104 001 is easy to use, as no RF design knowledge is required to integrate it into new products. The module includes a baseband with internal flash memory, a radio transceiver, a reference crystal and Host Controller Interface (HCI) level embedded software as standard. Flash memory is available in either 4 or 8 Mbit capacities. The ROK104001 has class 2 output power and will drive up to seven slave units. It is suited for both embedded and host-based applications, where designers only require an antenna to complete a full Bluetooth design.
