6/12/2002 - Sun Microsystems today announced it has joined the board of a new, global organization called the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA). With its longstanding support of open standards and community-based development, Sun is joining to underscore its commitement to fostering interoperability and development of mobile applications and services. "The OMA's charter of fostering interoperability through technologies such as XML and Java[tm] fits very well with Sun's strong belief in community development," said Greg Papadopolous, chief technology officer of Sun Microsystems. "We intend to be an active, contributing member, helping to grow the market for mobile services by making the mobile experience seamless and simple for users."
