6/27/2002 - Siroyan, the high-performance DSP IP company, has been identified as one of Europe's top emerging private technology companies in Tornado Insider's Top 100 list. The list, which will be detailed in the summer issue of Tornado Insider magazine due in July, will profile Siroyan as one of the most promising and innovative emerging companies in the European high-technology sectors.
The challenge of narrowing a list of thousands of candidates to the top 100 start-ups was completed by Tornado Insider's research and editorial departments, in conjunction with industry insiders and high tech analysts, as well as sector and regional specialists. Companies from Ireland to Israel involved in all areas of technical expertise from nanotech, through semiconductor technology to biotech were selected on a wide range of criteria including: delivering an innovation that shows the promise of setting new standards; having the potential to become a global brand or standard; influencing a major market; and having a strong valuation for a future IPO.
The companies selected had to also meet the requirement of selling products that match their marketing promises as well as exhibit an ability of utilizing their funding in the most effective manner.
"These companies are the elite of Europe and have clearly demonstrated that the technology they are commercializing today will change the way things are done tomorrow," said Ron Groen, CEO of Tornado Insider. "This year's 'Tornado Insider 100' companies have demonstrated a proven ability to be creative, agile and truly innovative in a challenging climate. We believe that these companies will provide enduring value to their customers, their shareholders and the marketplace."
"As the only pure semiconductor IP company selected, we are particularly honored to make the final list", commented Kevin Boyd, Siroyan's chief financial officer. "This Tornado Insider Top 100 listing, together with last month's citation in TIME Magazine's Top 50, is a sound endorsement both of our technology and business model, and a recognition of the hard work and dedication of the Siroyan team over the past two years".
Siroyan's vision of becoming the industry-standard DSP IP supplier began with the OneDSP program in 1999, following an intensive research study. This two-year program, involving over 800 design engineers in 150 different companies, ascertained the architecture and IP delivery model the company needed to take technology design to the next level of performance. The OneDSP architecture is the first to use VLIW clustering techniques to provide unparalleled DSP power, and integrate high-performance RISC functionality. Delivered as a family of synthesizable cores specifically for SoC deployment, and supported in a standard EDA development environment, Siroyan offers designers the performance and flexibility required for demanding next-generation applications. Headquartered in Reading, UK, the company is privately owned, and employs some 50 technical and commercial staff at its HQ and Design Centres.
