6/27/2002 - Cypress Semiconductor Corporation (NYSE: CY) announced that the results of its Q202 customer satisfaction survey show that the company continues to receive high scores from contract manufacturing firms. These findings are supported by the supplier awards Cypress continues to receive from key players in this channel, like Solectron, Celestica, and Jabil.
A review of data from this and previous quarterly surveys indicates three key issues that drive customer satisfaction: Product Quality, Service Quality, and Responsiveness. Cypress has continuously and consistently scored well in Product Quality and Service Quality. The launch of a new Cypress technical support center, which is expected to provide online and live resolution of product and technology questions, is expected to address and improve the company’s Responsiveness scores.
In an effort to continue improving its globalization effort, Cypress has exerted a significant effort to gather input from the Japanese market. Recent changes in the company’s organization, structure, and capabilities in Japan were reflected in improved survey scores.
“Attention to customer satisfaction in a challenging economic environment helps a company like Cypress retain our customers and positions us for future long-term success,” said Ralph Schmitt, executive vice president for sales and marketing at Cypress. “While our survey scores in Japan have improved, they still have not matched the levels achieved in other regions. Cypress will continue to launch initiatives designed to make progress in this area.”
“Technology is not the only differentiator in today’s market,” continued Schmitt. “Service levels in the semiconductor industry are nowhere near the level of other industries. We are happy to see the most demanding customers – contract manufacturers – rate us so strongly. However, we need to keep innovating in our service methodology in order to use it as a competitive weapon. In our drive to be the best in class, we are listening to our customers and benchmarking other industries.”
