Fujitsu Software Corporation Introduces Its Next Generation Interstage e-Business Platform with the Industry's Most Comprehensive Web Services-Enabled App

6/26/2002 - Fujitsu Software Corporation announced the launch of the InterstageTM e-Business Platform with the introduction of the Interstage Application Server V5, a Web services-enabled e-Business solution with full support for the Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE). The Interstage Application Server is the foundation of Fujitsu's Interstage e-Business Platform, a comprehensive suite of software that includes: the application server, a business process management engine, a portal server for presentation integration, a content integration server and an application integration server. The Interstage Application Server V5 will be available within 30 days.

By incorporating the broadest support for Web services, the Interstage Application Server demonstrates an unwavering commitment to interoperability across multiple platforms, allowing customers the freedom to choose from the broadest range of application solutions and solution providers. As a founding member of the Web Services Interoperability Organization (WS-I), Fujitsu is dedicated to providing U.S. customers with solutions for developing and integrating enterprise applications that drive their businesses.

Fujitsu's Interstage Application Server V5 combines the latest Web services functionality with proven, powerful enterprise infrastructure software and a solid commitment to open standards. This enables customers to construct agile solutions that are open and extensible. The Interstage Application Server V5 supports the following key Web services technologies: Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP), which is a protocol for XML messaging, Web Services Description Language (WSDL), Universal Description Discovery and Integration (UDDI) and e-Business XML (ebXML).

Fujitsu already boasts over 31,000 server installations worldwide. Customers include Matsushita Electric (Panasonic), Tokyo-Mitsubishi Bank, Subaru Telescope, Medical Benefits Fund (in Australia) and Attachmate Corporation. In fact, 40% of the top non-U.S. based Global 20 corporations are Fujitsu Interstage customers.

"U.S. companies seek technology that will help them to operate more efficiently and realize positive business benefits while reducing development and integration costs," said Shizuo Inagaki, president of Fujitsu Software Corporation. "The Interstage Application Server V5 offers U.S. companies a compelling alternative for purchasing only the components of the platform they need to build and deploy mission-critical applications in environments that support Web services, B2B commerce and mobile computing. Interstage's support for all open and emerging standards makes ubiquitous computing a reality."

Fujitsu's Interstage e-Business Platform and the Interstage Application Server have already garnered praise from diverse sources such as independent analyst firms, Doculabs and Australia's Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO). The CSIRO ranked the Interstage as the best performing application server.

Recognizing that application servers have become one of the most critical pieces of an e-business architecture for today's large enterprises, Fujitsu has included:
