6/19/2002 - Lane15 Software, Inc., the leader in InfiniBandTM management software, today announced that it is collaborating with IBM Microelectronics to integrate Lane15 InfiniBand management software with IBM InfiniBlueTM technology to ensure compatibility, reliability, and accelerate customer development and deployment of InfiniBand products. This collaboration will provide InfiniBand OEM customers with the key software and hardware technologies necessary to bring InfiniBand-enabled products to market.
Lane15 has recognized IBM as a high-performance technology leader in the InfiniBand marketplace. As the InfiniBand management software leader, Lane15 will integrate the Lane15 Fabric ManagerTM and the Lane15 Application EnablerTM products to run with IBM's hardware to create the first complete fabric management software solution engineered specifically for IBM's InfiniBand products. This joint solution will be flexible and device agnostic, allowing OEMs to build upon it to provide their own value-add to the industry.
Lane15 provides a fabric management software platform that results in greater centralized control to deliver computing power on-demand for mission critical fabric computing. Coupled with IBM's leading-edge hardware built in IBM's high-performance copper technology--products that will maximize the features and functions of the InfiniBand technology--these combined products provide a complete software and hardware solution for InfiniBand system, board and device designers.
"This is a great success for the InfiniBand Industry. The InfiniBand market requires an enterprise ready foundation for InfiniBand product OEMs. This effort brings together leaders of InfiniBand silicon and software to jointly deliver the critical piece of the InfiniBand data center foundation to the market. IBM receives a robust, complete InfiniBand software management solution to couple with their InfiniBlue Channel Adapters and Lane15 gains a strong, innovative partner with ongoing access to all the major server and storage players in the industry," said Vernon Turner, Group Vice President, IDC. "These companies are delivering the solid data center foundation requisite for service-centric computing to become a reality."
"IBM is committed to the InfiniBand technology and to working towards an open and fully interoperable system architecture that will solve the bandwidth and management problems facing today's data center and IT managers," said Ms. Scottie Ginn, vice president of IBM Microelectronics' Standard Products Group. "By working with firms like Lane15 to pull together all of the elements required to deliver a total InfiniBand solution, we are giving our OEM customers the tools they need to bring their InfiniBand-enabled products to market.
"IBM's leadership is critical in propelling InfiniBand networks out of the test lab and into the data center. With InfiniBand solutions in the data center, customers will immediately experience increased computing capabilities with their current resources, " said Terry Dickson, vice president of marketing at Lane15 Software. "The InfiniBand market has made strong progress over the past two years, going from a specification launch to data center ready products. With the IBM and Lane15 solution OEM customers can deliver complete, enterprise-ready InfiniBand solutions to the market."
