Cable Industry Veteran Steve Necessary Joins Concurrent Computer Corporation

6/19/2002 - Concurrent Computer Corporation (Nasdaq:CCUR), the pioneer and market leader in North American Video-On-Demand (VOD) commercial deployments, is pleased to announce that Steve Necessary has joined the Company as president of the XSTREME Division. Mr. Necessary will be reporting to the president and CEO of Concurrent, Jack Bryant. Since Mr. Bryant assumed the position of president and CEO in October 2000, he has been the acting president of the XSTREME Division of the Company.

In his new position at Concurrent, Mr. Necessary will be leading the division's efforts to expand its leadership position as a recognized worldwide leader of reliable, high-capacity end-to-end VOD systems and services. Mr. Necessary will use his industry expertise and general management experience to build on Concurrent's excellent operational performance and identify new process improvement initiatives to help facilitate the growth of Concurrent's VOD business.

Mr. Necessary brings over 20 years of cable television related experience to Concurrent. Most recently, Mr. Necessary was the president, CEO, and director of PowerTV, Inc, a software subsidiary of Scientific-Atlanta. Previously, Mr. Necessary had been corporate vice president and vice president of marketing at Scientific-Atlanta. He also held a number of other positions with Scientific-Atlanta, including vice president and general manager of analog video systems, where he was responsible for the operational P&L, product planning, engineering, and marketing for advanced analog set-tops. Mr. Necessary spent several years at ANTEC Corporation, where his final position was president of the products group. Earlier in his career, he was a team manager for Procter & Gamble.

Mr. Necessary earned a bachelor's degree in Engineering Economic Systems from Georgia Tech with highest honors and an MBA from Harvard. He is a member of CTAM (Cable and Telecommunications Association for Marketing), SCTE (the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers), WICT (Women in Cable and Telecommunications), and Christians in Cable. Mr. Necessary also serves on the board of the Atlanta Ballet Theater and the advisory board of the Georgia Wilderness Institute.
