Broadcom’s New ROBOSwitch 2G Family Delivers Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet Connectivity to the Small-to-Medium Business Market in a Cost-Effective Single-C

6/4/2002 - Broadcom Corporation (Nasdaq: BRCM), the leading provider of integrated circuits enabling broadband communications, today introduced the BroadcomÒ “ROBOSwitch 2G” family of Ethernet switches. The members of the new switch family, the BCM5380 and BCM5382, achieve a new level of integration by combining Fast Ethernet (FE) and Gigabit Ethernet (GE) physical layer transceivers, with nine FE Media Access Controllers (MACs), two Gigabit Media Access Controllers (GMACs), and packet buffer memory into a single-chip. Additionally, the BCM5380 increases speed ten times, and reduces cost by 20% as compared to competing discrete switch solutions
