6/11/2002 - Mentor Graphics Corporation (Nasdaq: MENT) today announced support for SystemVerilog, the recently announced standard from Accellera. Mentor plans to incorporate the new standard into a range of its tools, with availability beginning in 2003. "We believe that the evolutionary approach that SystemVerilog offers is a better path forward for Verilog designers," said Walden C. Rhines, chairman and CEO of Mentor Graphics®. "By building on what engineers are already using today, we preserve the significant investment people have in Verilog, while allowing a higher level of abstraction in design. We intend to support this standard across the range of our IC and programmable logic design products." "Model Technology™ enthusiastically endorses the approval of SystemVerilog as the next-generation Verilog standard," said Robert Hum, vice president and general manager of Mentor's Model Technology and Design-For-Test tools. "SystemVerilog is the logical migration path for today's Verilog users, and we are adding support for SystemVerilog to our industry-leading, mixed-language simulator, ModelSim®."
