Agilent Technologies' new DOCSIS Protocol Analyzer speeds development of new cable TV systems

6/11/2002 - Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today introduced a commercially available DOCSIS Protocol Analyzer (DPA) that enables functional analysis of both upstream and downstream data-over-cable service interface specification (DOCSIS) signals. The analyzer provides equipment manufacturers and service providers with unprecedented visibility into DOCSIS protocol implementations, speeding and simplifying development, interoperability testing and certification of equipment and services for delivering high-speed Internet and voice services over cable TV systems. The Agilent E7333A DOCSIS Protocol Analyzer analyzes the upstream and downstream protocols by acquiring the signals and decoding media access control (MAC) messages within a wide RF dynamic range. The new product also provides a highly versatile triggering subsystem for physical layer measurements, and has applications in R&D testing, conformance testing, manufacturing, and system troubleshooting and monitoring.
