6/12/2002 - Samsung Electro-Mechanics (SEM), a leading manufacturer of electronic parts and components, and WIDCOMM, a world leader in short-range wireless communication software, announced today that Samsung has licensed WIDCOMM's Bluetooth for Windows software to enable Bluetooth connectivity in Samsung's personal computing devices. The first product developed by Samsung under this agreement will be a USB adapter, which will give Bluetooth capabilities to any device equipped with an USB port. Powered by WIDCOMM's Bluetooth for Windows software, the adapter adds wireless connectivity, synchronization, printing and audio features to any PC. "Samsung has been a long time proponent of Bluetooth. We chose WIDCOMM's BTW software because it is the most widely used Bluetooth software suite, which ensures a superior level of interoperability," said Ki Ryong Lee Samsung Electro-mechanics Vice President of Wireless Lab. "We had considered developing a Bluetooth software stack at SEM, but WIDCOMM's software is easy to use and allows us to quickly get to market."
