Optibase Adopts Performance Technologies' IPnexus™ Ethernet Switch for Video Streaming Applications

6/10/2002 - Performance Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: PTIX) today announced that Optibase, Ltd. (Nasdaq: OBAS), a market leader in broadband streaming solutions for applications such as video-on-demand, digital video archiving and videoconferencing, has incorporated the company's IPnexus™ CPC4401 embedded Ethernet switch in its carrier-grade Video Streaming Platform, MGW 5100. The CPC4401 switch is based on the PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers Group's (PICMG®) 2.16 packet switching backplane standard, which was ratified in late 2001. Looking to upgrade its existing system, Optibase decided to capitalize on this open-standard architecture to ensure advanced features for its platform today, with the ability to grow its capabilities over time. Relying on Performance Technologies' family of embedded switching products allowed Optibase to get to market quickly while "future proofing" its follow on designs.
