Xilinx Changes Programmable Logic Landscape with Expanded Virtex-II Pro Family

6/17/2002 - Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ: XLNX) announced today the expansion of the industry-leading Virtex-II ProTM FPGA family with five new devices and new price points. The new Virtex-II Pro devices expand the family to ten, with the largest of the new devices setting new records for logic, memory, DSP, processing, and I/O capacity. Xilinx is able to respond to the customer demand, seen following its Programmable World 2002 event held in April, with these new members due to the successful delivery of the tools, the initial devices, and the process, as well as the acceleration to 300-mm wafers. Also announced were new price points for the family. With the new pricing, Virtex-II Pro FPGAs deliver cost savings of 40 percent over any other competitive FPGA offerings of comparable logic cell, memory density, and performance.
