6/17/2002 - Wind River Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:WIND), a leading provider of software and services for connected devices, today awarded its "Cool Customer Design" award to Avaya Inc. (NYSE:AV) for its development of the upgradeable, Java-enabled 4630 IP Screenphone. By using a combination of Wind River's products and development services including the JWorks PersonalJava environment and Information Appliance Framework, Avaya was able to quickly deliver extensive phone features and functionality, along with a high level of reliability and voice quality. "We chose Wind River because we knew we could get reliable and leading-edge software components, as well as premier expert development services necessary to get our product to market quickly," said Emil Stefanacci, research and development manager for Avaya's 4630.
