Maxwell Technologies Appoints Richard Balanson President and Chief Operating Officer
5/20/2002 - Richard D. Balanson has been appointed to the newly created position of president and chief operating officer of Maxwell Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: MXWL), according to Carl Eibl, Maxwell's chief executive officer. Balanson, 53, joined the company in August 1999 as corporate vice president and president of its Advanced Energy Products unit, and in January 2000 assumed broader responsibility as president of Maxwell Electronic Components Group, Inc. In his new position, he will have full operating responsibility for Maxwell's I-Bus/Phoenix power and computing systems unit as well as the Electronic Components Group.
