Magma Announces NEC Electronics Completes Two Complex Networking ICs Using Blast Fusion & Blast Noise

5/20/2002 - Magma® Design Automation, Inc. (Nasdaq: LAVA), a provider of chip design solutions, today announced that NEC Electronics Inc. has implemented two complex networking designs using Magma's Blast Fusion™ and Blast Noise™ software. NEC Electronics has received working silicon and has validated the results delivered by the Magma solution for two 0.18 micron integrated circuits - a 250MHz, 2.8-million-gate design and a 125MHz, 720K-gate design. Despite large gate counts and strict timing requirements, NEC Electronics was able to achieve timing closure without multiple iterations through synthesis, and could address signal integrity during the implementation flow, significantly reducing the design cycles for these integrated circuits. With Blast Fusion's high capacity, NEC Electronics was able to implement the designs, including clock shielding, with one system and a flat methodology, shortening design time by eliminating the need to transfer files between tools and partition and reassemble the design.
