IBM introduces new digital set-top-box integrated controllers

5/20/2002 - IBM today announced new set-top-box (STB) processors, designed for use in a wide range of digital television products including integrated digital television sets (IDTVs), personal video recorders (PVRs) and satellite, cable, and digital terrestrial receivers. Both of IBM's new controller products are highly integrated chips using industry-leading IBM CMOS 0.15 micron process technology. The new STB chips are part of the fourth generation of IBM products for digital STB applications. The PowerPC® processor and peripheral I/O architecture provide a high level of performance and functionality.
