Agilent Technologies announces an LC/MS method to analyze herbicides in water that meets UK requirements

5/20/2002 - Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced the availability of a new chromatography method for analyzing acidic herbicides in groundwater and potable water. The new method meets all performance requirements (standard deviation, bias, and total error) set by the United Kingdom's Drinking Water Inspectorate. The liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS) method uses atmospheric pressure electrospray ionization, which eliminates the derivatization step found in previous methods and achieves low levels of detection with only small sample volumes (50 ÁL in validation tests). Derivatization involves use of potentially hazardous chemicals and adds time to each analysis.
