EXAR Debuts Family of Innovative Physical Layer Devices: Two, Four, Six and Twelve Channel Transceivers with Integrated Desynchronization for DS3/E3/STS-1 App

5/13/2002 - Exar Corporation (Nasdaq: EXAR), a leading provider of high-performance, mixed-signal silicon solutions for the worldwide communications infrastructure, today announced a new family of multi-channel, multi-function physical-layer devices. Addressing a void in industry offerings, Exar released four devices that address desynchronization requirements for mapping/demapping between SONET/SDH (synchronous) and DS3/E3 (asynchronous) networking environments. This integrated device incorporates not only the LIU function, but also the desynchronizer, that until now was implemented only by utilizing external discrete components. Applications include access equipment, digital cross-connect systems, routers, and digital subscriber line access multiplexer (DSLAMs), or virtually any SONET equipment located between the high-speed core and the lower-speed access network.
