5/13/2002 - California Micro Devices (Nasdaq: CAMD) today introduced a new family of ultra-low capacitance ESD devices that protect high-speed PC and peripheral I/O ports from electrostatic discharge (ESD). The PicoGuard CM1210 family of devices provides up to 6KV contact protection, per the IEC61000-4-2 specification, with only 1pF channel input capacitance. The CM1210 family is ideal for high-speed port implementations such as USB 2.0, IEEE1394 (Firewire®, i.Link) and Gigabit Ethernet that have high data and clock rates that require very low capacitive loading. It can also be used for DVI ports and antenna protection for cellular phones and wireless LAN applications. Initial family members integrate up to 8 channels of ESD protection in a single device.
