5/13/2002 - Xilinx, Inc., (NASDAQ:XLNX) and UMC (NYSE: UMC) today announced that the Xilinx VirtexTM FPGAs series, which is almost entirely built in UMC's fabs, has reached one billion dollars in cumulative revenue since its introduction to the market in 1998. The milestone marks the first product series from a programmable logic company to reach the billion-dollar mark in less than five years. The most advanced products within this series, the Virtex-IITM FPGAs, are built at UMC's 300mm Fab 12A on the company's 130 nm (0.13 micron) eight layer copper/low-k process.
